The first year of high school being the foundation of one’s academic journey can feel intimidating. But what should freshmen truly take for their classes to achieve academic excellence? Although being very intimidating for ninth graders, AP Human Geography (APHUG) would be an excellent selection for one’s elective choice. Becoming one’s first AP class, this gives students an accelerated view on how college level classes can be.

The Class’ Aspects

Specified as a social science class, it has many aspects on humans and their actions, along with diagrams and maps. Being one of the easier AP classes one may take, the amount of notes are not prolonged. The short and straight up lessons that a teacher would teach upon are simple to comprehend and analyze. This class educates an individual about culture, economics, and patterns on population and how they are altered to how the world looks today.

Class Assignments

AP HUG and its lessons are very logically based and can be hard to understand. While performing homework assignments, one should have deeper thought into why what they learned about matters. Simply doing will not be enough for this class as many questions will be hypothetically based. Asking oneself why a question would be this answer will be very helpful to knowing and understanding the unrevealing simple logic that this class upholds.

Studying Mechanisms

Although AP HUG is one of the easier classes to take in one’s high school years, studying should not be taken lightly. Just like what the learning pyramid shows, teaching  others has the greatest effect on a person’s understanding on the material learned. By constantly asking oneself why will get a deeper understanding on what is being tested on. Looking back at old assignments would support an individual’s grade too. By relapsing back to old assignments, more insight is given as questions answered on homework are put in the person’s words, making it easier to comprehend.

Map Knowledge

Understanding the world map is also vital to learning in this class. Knowing where countries and regions are along with their descriptions, AP HUG will become so much easier. Understanding these aspects may develop a sense of knowledge that fulfills why specific culture, organizations, and production goes on where.
